A Bit of Inspiration
Starting this blog, I didn't exactly know what I was doing. Technically, I still don't. But I've gained some perspective, while taking the summer months off from blogging. I've been spending time enjoying decorating. I've read blogs, flipped through magazines, toured homes and I've found a clearer understanding of what I like. I've shopped, and shopped, and shopped some more. I've rearranged, repurposed and found what works for me. My main issue has been that so many aspects of design appeal to me and I've had a hard time trying to figure out exactly what I like and what parts of different style elements will work together in my home.
I am still trying to figure out if I have a signature style, because so much of my problem has been that I am currently loving the simplicity and brightness of this:
and then simultaneously loving the warmth and interest of this:
Trial and error has been my motto. I've brought home, tried out, re-purposed for what I wasn't originally going to use it for, kept things and returned things. My husband has actually become accustomed to the piles of bags sitting around our house, knowing that "no honey, I don't plan to keeping everything" (but if it works... maybe I will!).
I've also found that my life encompasses so much. My kids keep me so busy and I've been focused so much on them that I've lost hobbies and interests along the way. I've been enjoying taking a lot of photography lately. Nothing more than having fun and learning how to take the photos I love looking at. It's amazing how I now look at trees and see them through a whole different set of eyes, architecture seems so much more interesting and I'm even spending more time with my kids enjoying them, while enjoying something for myself. A win/win!

I'm just now learning, but having so much fun with it!
Have a great day! I plan on being back soon!

Frame My Walls
I've been admiring the numerous framed walls in blogland and I've been slowly collecting frames for our master bedroom wall. But as a self-proclaimed-commitment-phobe, I don't want to hammer into my walls until I am absolutely ready. (Ya, I'm to cheap to buy that many command strips!) And I am so picky, so that doesn't help. After looking through tear pages and online photos, I've figured out that I do like symmetry. But then again, a bit of irregularity adds some excitement, which we could probably use in our semi-neutral house.
Take a peek at the framed hallway walls I am LOVING at Young House Love.
Now that I'm thinking of it...our upstairs hallway would be perfect for this!

This collection of frames at Bower Power with the round mirror in the center, which we already have hanging in our master bedroom, could be a go for the space. We'll see!
